Pakistan Tehreek-E-Insaf (PTI) Foundation Chairman Imran Khan has said that the country and its people need both establishment and his party to secure national unity and stability.

The statement was communicated by IMRAN’s legal representative, spokesman for Faisal Chaudhry after a meeting in Rawalpindis Adiala prison, where IMRAN remains imprisoned.

In a speech with journalists, Chaudhry said IMRAN expressed concern about what he described as systematic attempts to sideline PTI.

He claimed that the country had been transformed into a “banana republic” to crush the party and that institutions, including the judiciary, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and police had been damaged in the process.

Imran also criticized restrictions on meetings with family and legal adviser, saying it was his constitutional right. “At one time, even nine lawyers could meet him. Now it was only two allowed,” added Chaudhry.

“He noted that Imran’s health was good, but he had been informed that his sisters and several party leaders were denied visiting rights. Imran also raised objections to his wife, Bushra Bibi, to abandon in custody,” he added.

The former Prime Minister also repeated PTI’s attitude as a ‘national, federal political force capable of uniting the country.’

His lawyer also said that Imran had instructed his party’s legal and political leadership to tackle legal affairs in the context of constitutional changes and pending litigation, some of which claimed he was deliberately delayed.

PTI’s basic chairman had also expressed concern about Pakistan’s fighting economy and a lack of foreign investment, which he accused of poor governance and the absence of the rule of law.
