Islamabad:

Pakistan offered the Afghan preliminary government to jointly combat terrorist groups causing turmoil and instability as Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi held crucial conversations with the Taliban authorities in a daily visit to Kabul on Sunday.

Naqvi is the latest senior Pakistani minister traveling to neighboring countries as part of a renewed push to reset ties and address the issue of cross -border terrorism. The Minister of the Interior came on the heels of Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar’s trip to Kabul a few days ago.

Naqvi, accompanied by the special representative of Afghanistan -Ambassador Muhammad Sadiq Khan and domestic secretary Khurram Agha, met with the Afghan Interim Interior Minister Sirajuddin Haqqni. Negotiations, according to officials, focused on the issue of terrorism, border management and repatriation of Afghan refugees.

But the question of the presence of forbidden Tehreek-E-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and other anti-Pakistan groups in Afghanistan were at the top of the agenda. Sources said that Naqvi delivered a clear message that Pakistan considers Afghanistan his “brotherly neighboring country”, but highlighted the activities of terrorist groups as a major obstacle to the bilateral ties.

“Terrorist organizations cause turmoil and instability, we must jointly stop them,” Naqvi was quoted as saying from his office after his meeting with the head of the Haqqani network. An interior ministry’s distribution said the two sides discussed bilateral relations, especially focusing on the fight against terrorism, cross -border infiltration and the forbidden TTP.

Negotiations were also held on effective management of the border between Pakistan-Afghanistan, the prevention of drug trafficking and regulation of cross-border movement. The interruption process for Afghan citizens who were illegally residing in Pakistan also came under discussion.

Both domestic ministers emphasized the need for peaceful coexistence, stability and improved cooperation between Pakistan and Afghanistan. They agreed to strengthen mutual cooperation to improve border management and eliminate the threat of terrorism.

“Pakistan wants brotherly and long -term relations with Afghanistan. For decades, Pakistan has hosted millions of Afghan refugees selflessly, and the doors remain open to Afghan citizens to enter Pakistan legally,” Naqvi said.

The relationship between Pakistan and Afghanistan has remained stopped for many months before the two sides made another attempt to sort their differences.

DAR’s visit to Kabul in April led to greater commitment between the two neighbors. According to sources, the Afghan government took certain steps to control the TTP. Some measures, including a crash on Afghans who joined the TTP.

These steps helped build some confidence between the two countries. However, officials warned that the Afghan side will have to demonstrate much more obligation to completely eradicate the threat from the neighboring country.

Meanwhile, high -level exchanges are expected between the two countries as the Afghan temporary Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi will soon travel to Islamabad.
