Pakistan Railways to examine ‘assault’ after protest

Pakistan Railways (PR) has launched an investigation into the claim of his extra general manager (mechanical), Rahat Mirza, who claimed he was physically assaulted by a class-19 officer Tariq Latif on March 29.

According to a notification issued on Friday by PR’s chief personnel officers, the secretary’s railways have imposed the PR police inspector to conduct the investigation and submit a report within three days.

In his complaint, Mirza-a Class-21 officer-the Latif, an officer in Railway Commercial Traffic Group (RCTG), threatened to kill him in the former office. He requested PR -Manager Director to give him security in view of the threat while also taking strict action against Latif.

According to a report, dozens of officers, including senior mechanical engineers, threatened the PR -administration to stop the work for the next few days if no immediate strict disciplinary action against Tariq Latif was taken.

Despite a written complaint filed by Mirza, with a claim for rapid action, the Ministry of Railway appointed in a surprising movement on Thursday Latif as Director General (vigilance), based on PR’s Lahore headquarters, added the report.
