Islamabad:
Senate chairman Yousuf Raza Gilani has said that Pakistan and Russia share common goals for global peace, security and multipolarity in global affairs.
He made these comments during a meeting with the Federation Council of Russia President Valentina Matviyenko held on the sidelines of the 150th Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) Assembly in Tashkent.
Gilani said that Pakistans and Russia’s evolving conditions are rooted in mutual respect and increasingly broadly based collaboration across defense, trade, energy and multilateral platforms such as SCO.
The two sides agreed to improve institutional relations between their respective parliaments, including exchange visits, resuscitation of parliamentary friendship groups and consistent dialogue to tackle shared challenges. Gilani recognized the importance of ongoing defense cooperation and suggested greater focus on security dialogue, military training exchange and coordination of fighting terrorism.
With bilateral trade showing positive momentum, both sides of the diversification of economic ties in areas such as energy, agriculture, pharmaceutical drugs and IT.
The chairman of the Senate spoke to establish bank channels and improved the connection under the regional framework.
Pakistan expressed strong support for Russia’s role in promoting regional stability and multipolar global governance.
