Pakistan, Saudi -Arabia constitutes joint committees to collaborate on media projects

Pakistan and Saudi Arabia agree to create a joint committee to produce songs, films and documentaries, as part of the efforts to strengthen ties in the media industry.

The announcement was published on Wednesday after a meeting between Information Minister Ataullah Tarar and Saudi Arabia’s media minister Salman al-Dossary in Riyadh, during the fourth edition of the Saudi Forum.

The forum, which runs from Wednesday to Friday, gathers over 200 media professionals, innovators and thought leaders from around the world. This year’s theme is “Media in a developing world”.

The newly agreed joint committee will focus on collaborative productions, including songs, films and documentaries. Ministers also discussed improving collaboration in other sectors, such as journalism and training programs.

The meeting also highlighted the importance of collaboration to combat wrong information and propaganda. Tarar confirmed Pakistan’s obligation to support Saudi -Arabia’s vision 2030, aiming to diversify the kingdom economy and reduce its dependence on oil.

He emphasized that Pakistan’s relationship with Saudi Arabia developed into a stronger financial partnership in which Saudi Arabia played a key role in Pakistan’s development.

Al-dossary recognized contributions from Pakistani posted in Saudi Arabia’s development and noted that promoting collaboration across all sectors, including information, was a priority for the Kingdom.

Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have long been close regional partners and economic allies. In October 2024, both countries signed 34 agreements worth $ 2.8 billion to further increase their cooperation.

The Kingdom is home to more than 2.7 million Pakistani posted, making it the top destination for transfers sent to Pakistan.
