Islamabad: The Foreign Office’s spokesman Ambassador Shafqat Ali Khan declared that the historic defense agreement between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia is strictly defensive and has no consequences for any other nation.
At the weekly media briefing on Friday, Khan said the management of both countries was obliged to raise bilateral relations to new heights.
Riyadh and Islamabad signed the mutual defense pact on September 17, and strengthened a decades of old security partnership a week after Israel’s strikes on Qatar emerged the diplomatic calculation in the region.
“The agreement states that any aggression against both country should be considered an aggression against both,” had a statement from the Prime Minister’s office mentioned.
The deal was signed by Saudi -Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in Riyadh, where Pakistan’s top official was awarded a warm welcome.
Pakistan’s decades old alliance with the Saudi Arabia site of Islam’s holiest places-rooted in common faith, strategic interests and economic interdependence.
In his press briefing, the spokesman added that during the visit, official negotiations were held at official levels and high -level delegations participated.
The spokesman said that Pakistan and Saudi Arabia shared a unique bond of brotherhood and cooperation, where the Pakistani people had deep reverence for the country with the two holy mosques.
He noted that the defense cooperation since the 1960s had remained a cornerstone of the tape and that the two leaders were determined to further strengthen the relationship.
Khan said both sides underwent their historical and strategic conditions and exchanged views on questions of mutual interest.
According to him, the pact reflects both nations’ obligation to increase defense cooperation and ensure common security. He explained that aggression against a state under the agreement would be treated as aggression against both.
He emphasized that the strategic defense in accordance with formalized a decades long robust partnership, which emphasized that it would contribute significantly to regional peace, security and stability.
The OIC Summit requires Israeli’s accountability
Ambassador Khan also said that an Islamic summit was held in Doha, Qatar, with the participation of more than 50 Islamic countries, to consider Israeli aggression, resulting in civilian losses.
He noted that the Foreign Ministers in Islamic States drafted and unanimously adopted a common communication that condemned Israel’s attack as illegal and unprovoked.
He said Pakistan’s Foreign Minister condemned Israeli aggression at the meeting while valuing Qatar’s mediation efforts.
Pakistan also raised the case in the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva and called for an urgent debate, he said.
Communication, he added, demanded Israel be held responsible for violations of international law, condemned atrocities against Palestinians, and confirmed solidarity with the Palestinian people.
