Pakistan sets for spectacular moonlighting

The first full moon of 2025, a supermoon, will brighten the sky over Pakistan on October 7, according to Pakistan Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (Suparco).

The phenomenon occurs when the moon reaches its closest point on earth, known as perigee, at a distance of approx. 361,400 kilometers (224,599 miles). At this point it will work approx. 14% larger and 30% lighter than a typical full moon.

Suparco said this will be the first supermoon in almost a year after the last in November 2024.
