- Fatemi says conflict cannot be resolved by force.
- War that causes global food and energy.
- Calls for patience and tolerance from both sides.
The United Nations: Pakistan supports any international efforts to end the war between Russia and Ukraine, said special assistant to the Prime Minister of Foreign Affairs Tariq Fatemi on Tuesday.
“The conflict has been pulled on for more than three and a half years and has taken a heavy toll on innocent life,” Fatemi said. “No dispute can be wound up using the use of force.”
He explained that Pakistan has supported the Security Council’s decisions about the war and will continue to do so.
“The fighting has already created a serious humanitarian crisis,” he warned. “It also burns food and energy -deficiency and pushes up global inflation.”
Fatemi appealed to both Moscow and Kyiv to “show patience and tolerance” and look for a negotiated path forward. “Pakistan is ready to support any real step that can bring this conflict to an end,” he added.
The UN Secretary-General told the Security Council that it is important not to lose the “fragile diplomatic momentum” between Ukraine and Russia and international brokers-in relating to end the war.
He informed ambassadors in back-to-back meetings calling for a ceasefire in Gaza, he said “day after” the war ends there, must be rooted in international law and reject any “ethnic purification” of Palestinians.
Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump has said he believed that Ukraine could re -enter all his land occupied by Russia, and that Kyiv should act now, with Moscow facing “major” financial problems, in a sudden and striking rhetorical shift in Ukraine’s advantage.
