Pakistan and the Maldives on Wednesday agreed to increase parliamentary cooperation and strengthen people-to-people contacts during a meeting between the National Assembly’s speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq and Maldivian speaking Abdul Raheem Abdulla.
Sadiq said that parliamentary diplomacy was crucial to promoting peace and development in the region.
He emphasized that sustainable peace could not be achieved without solving the questions of Palestine and Kashmir and urged the Muslim Ummah to adopt a common strategy to support the oppressed people.
The High Commission for the Republic of Maldives in Islamabad also shared updates on the visit to its official X (formerly Twitter) account

He also warned that Israel-India Nexus was a “serious threat” for both regional and global peace.
Abdul Raheem Abdulla praised Pakistan’s “clear and consistent” attitude to the questions of Palestine and Kashmir and confirmed the Maldives’ obligation to expand legislative and institutional cooperation with Islamabad.
The Maldivian delegation is currently on a five-day visit to Pakistan on invitation from speaker Sadiq. The program includes meetings with political leaders, interactions with Pakistan-Maldive’s parliamentary friendship group and visits to historical and cultural landmarks in Islamabad.
The visit is expected to open new opportunities for regional cooperation while strengthening Inter-parliamentary relations and exploring collaboration in trade, education, tourism, climate change support and promoting stability in the region.
