Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar has instructed Pakistan’s permanent representative of the United Nations to take immediate steps to convene a meeting of the UN Security Council.

The meeting is to tackle the prevailing security situation in South Asia, worsened by the provocative actions of India, according to a statement released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The statement revealed that Pakistan has decided to formally inform the UN Security Council on the current regional tensions, especially highlighted India’s aggressive behavior.

Pakistan will also raise concern for India’s illegal acts of suspending the Indus Water’s Treaty (IWT) that regulates the use of the Indus River System.

“Pakistan will inform the Security Council about how India’s aggressive actions are jeopardizing regional peace and security,” the statement states.

The Ministry also emphasized that Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts are aimed at presenting facts to the international community to address the provocative attitude of India.
