Pakistan to participate in Moscow -Format negotiations on Afghanistan

Muhammad Sadiq Khan, Pakistan’s special representative of Afghanistan and also special assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) and prime minister, traveled to Moscow on Sunday to participate in high -level discussions about Afghanistan.

Representatives from Iran, China and Russia will participate in the quadrilateral consultation. Sadiq will lead Pakistan’s delegation in the 17th “Moscow format” in Afghanistan, beginning tomorrow (Tuesday). The session is expected to cover security, terrorism, drug trafficking and Afghan refugee problems.

According to diplomatic sources, Pakistan is set to encourage the international community to increase humanitarian aid to Afghanistan.

Common resistance from the four countries will be repeated against the establishment of any foreign military bases in Afghanistan.

Pakistan raises the question of terrorists who find safe ports on Afghan Earth and there will be a requirement to end recruiting, weapon supply and financing of terrorists from Afghanistan.

For the first time, Afghanistan will formally be welcomed as a Member State in this format, and Afghanistan’s acting Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi is expected to participate.

The Moscow format in Afghanistan was established in April 2017. It unites 11 countries that have expressed interest in a settlement in Afghanistan – Afghanistan himself, Russia, China, Iran, India, Pakistan, Kazakhstan, Tadsjikistan, Kirgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan.
