Islamabad:
Pakistan and Turkey on Thursday agreed to elaborate on their bilateral ties, setting a $ 5 billion target for bilateral trade when President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif condemned President Trump’s Gaza takeover plan.
Erdogan, which led to a high-powered delegation on the last part of his three-national tour, held a series of meetings in Islamabad. The two sides held formal conversations in Prime Minister House and Erdogan and Shehbaz co -chair the strategic collaboration advice at a high level.
They also participated in a Pakistan-Turkey Business Form. The Turkish president also met his Pakistani counterpart Asif Ali Zardari.
During conversations, the two sides reviewed bilateral ties, especially trade conditions, defense cooperation and discussed important regional and international issues.
“With Mr. Prime Minister, we agree to increase our efforts to reach the $ 5 billion target in trade volume,” said Turkish president during a joint news conference with Prime Minister Shehbaz.
Erdogan emphasized the importance of cooperation on the private sector and called on Turkish investors to expand their activities in Pakistan.
“(Through the Türkiye-Pakistan Business Forum), we urge our investors, the running engine of financial cooperation, to participate in several activities in Pakistan,” he said.
As part of the high -level negotiations, 24 agreements were signed to strengthen cooperation in different sectors.
Erdogan expressed gratitude for Pakistan’s strong support in Türkiye’s fight against terrorism.
“We repeat our support to Pakistan in his fight against terror in all its kind and forms. We feel Pakistan’s strong support in our fight against all forms of terrorism, including PKK, YPG, Daesh and Feto.”
Erdogan described Türkiye and Pakistan as two major countries bound by unwavering bonds and emphasized the deeply rooted relationship between the two nations.
The Turkish president also recognized Pakistan’s continued support for the rights to Turkish Cypriot and called it very meaningful.
Erdogan also repeated Türkiye’s firm attitude towards Palestine and said they will continue to fight with patience for the establishment of an independent and sovereign Palestinian state based on the borders of 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
“We believe we need to strengthen our decisive attitude during a period when there are illegal and unethical suggestions to remove our Gazan brothers and sisters from their homeland,” he added.
“Gaza belongs to our Gazan brothers and sisters and will remain so forever,” he said in a television speech at a business forum in the capital, Islamabad. Erdogan arrived on a two-day visit Wednesday night.
“The homeland that the Palestinians have sacrificed tens of thousands of their children is not ready for negotiations,” he added.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif praised Türkiye’s financial progress and its leadership in favor of Muslim nations.
He said that Türkiye is currently one of the fastest growing economies in the world and that the country has always risen to the Muslim nations, especially the oppressed. He added that the Muslim world is listening to Türkiye closely and attentively.
Sharif further emphasized the unique bond between the two nations and called it an unmatched relationship based on shared history and values.
Meanwhile, a joint statement described after the negotiations described the relationship between Pakistan and Turkey as ‘two souls, a heart’ as the basis of bilateral relations between the two countries.
HLSCC is the most important political forum that controls bilateral connections in all areas.
According to the joint statement, the joint working groups in HLSCC will be appointed “joint standing committee” (JSC) in the future to better reflect their permanent character.
Three new JSCs, namely “Security, Defense and Intelligence JSC”, “Health JSC” and “Science and Technology JSC”, have been established under the HLSCC mechanism.
The two sides emphasize the need for solving all outstanding disputes between Pakistan and India, including the core conflict in Jammu and Kashmir, in accordance with the relevant UN Safety Council’s decisions and desires from Kashmiris. In this regard, Pakistan expresses his deep appreciation of Türkiye’s principled attitude to the question.
The two countries repeat full and resolute support for the efforts of the fair, lasting and sustainable settlement of Cyprus issues. Pakistan confirms his support for the Turkish Cypriots and to Türkiye in this regard. Türkiye expresses his deep appreciation of Pakistan’s principle attitude towards the question.
Both countries repeat their support for a peaceful and stable Afghanistan and to promote international efforts aimed at building a more sustainable future for the Afghan people through continued, coordinated and coherent commitment with the temporary Afghan authorities, including counteracting terrorism.
In this regard, they emphasized the importance of inclusive governance and respect for fundamental rights, especially of girls and women in Afghanistan. The two sides also emphasized the need to maintain humanitarian assistance to the Afghan people.
They further emphasized that Afghanistan should not become a safe port for terrorist groups. All necessary measures to address terrorism must be taken by preliminary Afghan authorities, including against TTP and Daesh, which remains listed under the 1267 UNSC sanction regime.
Both sides emphasize the need to strengthen multilateralism, including through universal and consistent compliance with the basic principles of the UN -Charter to tackle the existing and new international challenges in an effective and credible way.
The two sides emphasized that the United Nations Security Council must be made more representative, democratic, transparent and responsible through a comprehensive UN Security Council Reform process, based on broadly possible consensus. In addition, they emphasized the need for the implementation of relevant UN Security Council’s decisions to resolve the long-standing disputes on the agenda of the Security Council, especially those relating to the Muslim Ummah.
The two sides expressed their serious concern about the unprecedented loss of life and property as well as the displacement of hundreds of thousands of Palestinians as a result of arbitrary use of Israel. They welcome the Gaza weapon who expressed hope that the ceasefire would lead to a permanent and durable ceasefire.
They called for the need for upscaling humanitarian assistance, including through continued and unobstructed operation of UNRWA, the return of all displaced Palestinians to their homes, as well as coordinated international efforts for the early reconstruction of Gaza. They emphasized that any attempt to displace the Palestinians from their country as well as to continue illegal settlements constitutes an obvious violation of international law.
Both sides urged the need to find a fair and comprehensive solution to establish a superb, independent and coherent Palestinian state based on borders before 1967 with AL-QD’s al-Sharif as its capital.
