The Foreign Office (FO) has called on India to immediately resume the normal function of the Indus Water’s Treaty (IWT) and fully comply with its obligations under the Court of Arbitration of Arbitration of “Supplementary Award” last Friday by the case initiated by Pakistan against India.

In a statement shared on Monday, Fo India called on to respect international agreements and resume cooperation on the case and emphasized the importance of preserving the Treaty of Regional Stability.

It expressed approval of the supplementary allocation issued by the Court of Arbitration on June 27, 2025, on the ongoing dispute over Kisganga and Ratle Hydroelectric Projects.

“In the order, the court confirmed its jurisdiction over the case and said it remains competent to oversee the dispute and is obliged to promote the procedure in a timely, fair and effective way,” the statement added.

Fo welcomed the supplementary award and saw it as a significant legal justification. Pakistan reiterated his position that IWT cannot be changed unilaterally by India.

“The award justifies Pakistan’s attitude that the Indus Waters Treaty remains valid and operational and that India has no right to take one -sided action with regard to it,” the statement concluded.

This decision follows India’s unilateral suspension of IWT, which Pakistan has considered illegal. The court’s decision acts as a strong response to India’s action and claims that the treaty remains valid and operational.
