Pakistan urges UNSC to keep Israel responsible for ‘unprovoked aggression’ in Qatar

Pakistan called on the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) Thursday to move beyond just condemnation of the Israeli strikes aimed at Hamas dealers and holds Israel responsible for his “illegal and unprovoked aggression” against Qatar.

When he spoke at the 15-member council’s emergency meeting at the Middle East, Ambassador Asim ITIKHAR Ahmad, Pakistan’s permanent representative of the UN, also emphasized the importance of protecting mediators involved in peace efforts and confirming the central legislation and the UN Charter in asserting Global Peace and Security.

The meeting was requested by Pakistan, Algeria and Somalia. It took place under the leadership of South Korea, Council President for September.

“Pakistan condemns the strongest possible conditions, the illegal and unprovoked Israeli aggression against the fraternal state of Qatar,” said the Pakistani envoy, calling it a “reckless and provocative attack” on the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Qatar.

The ambassador pointed out that Israeli strikes targeted a residential neighborhood and deliberately put civilians at risk – in serious violation of international humanitarian law (IHL). He added that this “brave and illegal assault” was not an isolated event, but part of a wider, consistent pattern of Israeli aggression and violations of international law that threatens regional peace and stability.

“Such aggression, as defined in Unga -Resolution 3314, also set a dangerous precedent, erodes the rule of law and breeds an impunity that threatens the security of all states.”

Pakistan, he said, expresses his complete solidarity with the government and people in Qatar and fully supports their inalienable right to take all necessary measures in accordance with the UN Charter to defend their sovereignty, territorial integrity and security of all persons within their territory.

“In a gesture of solidarity and regional unit, Prime Minister of Pakistan Shehbaz Sharif, accompanied by a high -level delegation, including Deputy Prime Minister/Foreign Minister Qatar today,” Ambassador Ahmad told the delegates.

“The visit emphasizes Pakistan’s unwavering support for Qatar’s safety and sovereignty and its commitment to peace and stability in the Middle East.”

He added, “This irresponsible act from Israel is yet another manifestation of its systematic ignoring of international law, and its brave policy to destabilize the region. It adds its long and questionable record of aggression, brutal military actions in Gaza, repeated cross-border strikes in Syria, Lebanon, Iran and Yemen-
