The United States ChargĂ© d’Affaires Elizabeth Horst met Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb in Islamabad on Monday to discuss financial cooperation and confirm the strengthening trajectory of bilateral ties, Radio Pakistan reported.

According to a statement of the Ministry of Finance, the meeting gave the meeting “an opportunity to exchange views on questions of mutual interest” and emphasized growing cooperation between Pakistan and the United States.

Aurangzeb thanked the United States for its long -standing support for Pakistan’s economic development, especially the support for macroeconomic stability achieved over the past 18 months.

He also remembered his recent visit to Washington, DC, where he held what he described as “productive meetings” with US Trade Minister Howard Lutnick and Trade Representative Ambassador Jamieson Greer.

The Minister said these discussions had contributed to a “healthy momentum in bilateral engagement”. “The United States remain Pakistan’s largest trading partner,” Aurangzeb said, expressing Pakistan’s interest in expanding cooperation beyond traditional sectors.

He noticed the growing potential of information technology, minerals and agriculture as key areas for mutually advantageous investment and cooperation.

Aurangzeb also briefed the visiting diplomat of Pakistan’s improvement in macroeconomic indicators, including recent sovereign rating upgrades and renewed investor confidence. He outlined key reforms implemented in taxation and energy aimed at promoting long -term, sustainable growth.

The Minister also shared updates on Pakistan’s successful participation in Middle Eastern capital markets and plans to issue the country’s first panda bond along with upcoming ventures in euro and US dollar markets.

The meeting ended with both sides confirming their commitment to elaborate on the cooperation and build on the progress made in recent months.
