Islamabad:
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has expanded greetings to the United States on his 249th Day of Independence and states that bilateral ties are entering a “new era” with collaboration and understanding.
When he spoke at a ceremony hosted by the US Embassy in Islamabad on Wednesday, he congratulated the US people and expressed Pakistan’s obligation to further strengthen the relationship between the two nations.
“On the 249th Independence Day in the United States, I expandingly expanded congratulations,” Sharif said. “We are obliged to further strengthen our connections, and both countries are entering a new era of partnership,” he added.
He highlighted the historical ties between the two nations and noted that the United States were among the first countries to recognize Pakistan after its independence in 1947.

“There is a story with the relationship between Pakistan and the United States,” Sharif said, adding, “The United States is one of the earliest countries recognizing Pakistan.”
The prime minister also reflected on Pakistan’s victims in the global fight against terrorism and emphasized the toll it has taken on the nation.
“We have suffered enormous losses in the war against terrorism,” he said. “Pakistan’s victims of terrorism efforts are unparalleled.”
The event participated in diplomats, civilian and military officials and members of the Pakistani and international communities.
