India has blocked more than a dozen Pakistani YouTube channels after their cover of the Pahaldam incident.
The channels reported on the Pahagam attack and had exposed disagreements in the modi government’s narrative of the events, causing Indian authorities to accuse the Pakistani channels of spreading “misleading and provocative content.”
Other affected channels include independent journalism platforms and thematic channels.
Indian authorities claimed that these channels conveyed misleading information against the Indian government and military, although no specific examples were cited in public.
Overall, the banned channels had a subscriber base that exceeded approx. 66 million.

Pahaldam -attack and diplomatic demand
On Tuesday, 26 men were killed at a tourist site in the Pahagam area in Indian illegally recorded Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), shot in a meadow. India claimed by presenting evidence that there were Pakistani elements attached to the attack, a claim that Islamabad denies.
On Wednesday, the Indian Cabinet Committee on Security approved a number of actions, including closing the Wagah-Attari Land Transit Point, and advised Indian citizens against traveling to Pakistan and formally notifying Islamabad of suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty.
In response, Pakistan’s National Security Committee (NSC) warned on Thursday that any attempt from India to block water flow in Pakistan would be treated as an act of war. The statement followed a high-level NSC meeting, which also approved the closure of the Wagah boundary transition.
On Friday, the Senate in Pakistan unanimously adopted a decision that rejected India’s claims connecting Pakistan with the Pahagam attack called them baseless and politically motivated.
