Parliamentary secretary responds to slow internet, confirming 5G roll-out in mid-year

The parliamentary secretary clarified the Internet speed in the country during the National Assembly Session.

The session, President of Vice President Ghulam Mustafa, discussed the question of slow internet speed in the issue.

Parliamentary secretary of what Sabin Ghori informed that internet speed would improve in the middle of this year, and 5G would also be launched in mid -2025.

She explained that there are several reasons for the slow internet speed.

Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) member, Agha Rafiullah, mentioned that videos are not downloaded and the Internet is extremely slow. Another member, Shagufta Jumani, noted that Bilawal Bhutto had rightly said there are some fish that only eat Pakistan’s cable.

In response, parliamentary secretary Sabin Ghori humorously said: “There are some fish cutting the internet cable, but we don’t know what fish it is.”

Earlier, the National Assembly Information Information Technology for the Rapid Completion of its Agreement with Starlink, with parliamentary secretary, confirmed that the service will be available in the country in June 2025.

The committee, led by Aminul HAQ, discussed various key problems, including Information Technology (IT) Ministry’s PSDF for FY 2024-25 and other important projects.

HAQ instructed officials to speed up the License Process for Starlink, Satellite Internet Provider owned by Elon Musk, who has been in discussions with Pakistan for almost two years.

Starlink’s licensing process had previously stopped due to the absence of a regulatory authority pointed out by Barrister Gohar, a member of the committee. The Pakistani authorities are aiming to end the necessary paperwork soon, with the potential for Starlink to be operational in mid -2025.

Amonth Since then, Sharmila Farooqi, PPP legislator, expressed his frustration during a State Assembly Committee for Information Technology Meeting and accused the government of not tackling persistent internet disorders.
