Indycar star Pato O’ward was about the Indianapolis 500 after Alex Palou passed Marcus Ericsson with 14 laps to win the race for the first time in his career.

The Arrow McLaren driver took out the lack of battle from Ericsson as Palou passed him for the lead late in the race, as well as how some of the restarts took place.

“Pretty Crap Race, I would say. Just just suck that it went down to – Switcheroo was to the last position in the race, and Ericsson actually boils there and let Palou past and just kind of … He just had to pedal it there,” he told Fox Sports. “I don’t think it’s a finish that someone would see here.

“I just feel like there was a lot of non-experience in front of the restarts and some of these restarts were pathetic. These were not of the level we should look at the Indy 500. It just felt we were playing roulette in a casino and picking outside or inside and just depending on what everyone else chose you, either got screwed or you did as 10 positions.”

O’ward finished in fourth place after starting the race in the third.

“We were snake there a few times, but we did it a little back a little after being a little more in the middle,” he said. “I fought myself as hard as I could.”

There were 44 laps that were run under caution, starting from the very beginning when rain plagued part of the race and then started with a Scott McLaughlin crash before the green flag waves.

On the first green-flag-flag-flag, Marco Andretti crashed onto the wall.

However, the race contained 22 lead changes among 14 drivers. It was Palou who ended up in the winner’s circle when the race was over.
