PBC rejects changes to ATA

Islamabad:

Pakistan wore Council on Wednesday rejected amendments made in ยง 11Eeeeee in the Anti-Terrorism Act, 1997, where the law enforcement authorities and the armed forces are allowed to detain suspects for up to three months.

In a decision adopted by the body that met during the presidency of Chaudhry Tahir Nasrullah Warraich, Vice, the participants in the meeting expressed their serious concerns about the amendment and said that every person has the right and opportunity for proper legislation and fair trials as laid down in Articles 4 and 10a of the constitution.
