PCB chief Naqvi urges policy-free cricket after the ICC judge’s apology

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi on Wednesday emphasized the need to separate Sports from Political Wrangling as International Cricket Council (ICC) match judge Andy Pycroft apologized Pakistan Cricket Team Manager and Captain.

Pycroft had prevented the captains of India and Pakistan from shaking hands during their fight, a step that drew a strong reaction from PCB.

The fighting judge called the incident on September 14 a result of error communication and apologized for management personally. The ICC expressed its willingness to conduct an investigation into the codic of the infringement that took place during the fight against India.

Naqvi said he had asked for former PCB chefs Najam Sethi and Ramiz Raja to hold discussions as the decision to boycott – if the roof – had taken a press conference in Dubai in Dubai and said he had asked for former PCB chefs.

He noted that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and several others were also involved in the process. He expressed gratitude and said, “We also do not know what decision to make at the last minute, so we are grateful to Allah for maintaining the dignity of the country in accordance with the nation’s expectations.”

With an eye on performance, Naqvi said the team still had room to improve. “Even if there are weaknesses, we will fix them. We have a panel of voters who will review the performances and I promise that if there are weaknesses, I will definitely ask them to overcome them.”

Sethi reinforced that PCB has always kept politics out of its domain. “PCBs have always kept the attitude that there should be no politics in sports. Even when I was chairman, we had the same attitude, and even today it remains the same. They played politics, but we didn’t. We showed the spirit of the sportsman, we asked for an apology and they apologized.”

Raja also described the recent development as a victory for cricket. “It was a critical situation, emotions were high, and I’m glad we didn’t make an emotional decision that could hurt cricket. I’ve always thought the cricket team should speak through its performance. They should lead it forward and no matter what frustration or harm feelings they should show it through their cricket and prove to the world how good a cricketing nation we are.”

He added that when the apology came, it became clear that the problem needed to remain within the sports arena.

Meanwhile, the Pakistan Cricket team arrived at Dubai Cricket Stadium for their must-win games against the United Arab Emirates (UAE) after receiving permission from the PCB chairman. UAE won the thrown and chose to toast against Pakistan.
