PCB Slashes Player Match fees with 75% for the National T20 Cup

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has drastically cut match fees for players participating in the upcoming National T20 Cup. Players in the tournament are paid match fees of 10,000 pkr (approx. US $ 35), a 75% fall from the last edition of the same tournament where the players were paid PKR 40,000 match fees.

It is an even bigger cut from as late as 2022, when the players were paid PKR 60,000 as match fees for the tournament. Reserve players in the troop In this edition, PKR is paid 5,000 (approx. US $ 17.50) per Match.

Slash in match fees is in sharp contrast to the general speed of high consumption on PCBs under current chairman Mohsin Naqvi. Last year, shortly after he became chairman, he said the money on PCB’s accounts was not intended to be “locked away” and would be spent on the players and in the service of Pakistan Cricket.

Since then, PCBs have started expensive but necessary stadium upgrades, employed – and shortly afterwards – foreign coaches on expensive contracts, as well as five mentors of PKR 5 million a month each, as well as hosting a -day domestic tournament that increased prize money for participants Tenfold.

However, a PCB official told ESPNCRYNKINFO that the decision to cut fighting fees so drastically for the National T20 Cup was not a result of financial concerns. Instead, PCBs feel that the players’ earning options during the season have increased by several tournaments in the domestic calendar, including the Champions T20 Cup, which took place in December 2024 (but with only five teams).

The Champions Cup format on five elite teams of players is replicated in both a 50-over and first-class tournament. With a number of players who are also employed in a department (for tournaments such as the President’s trophy) who pay them a monthly salary, the board believes that the fall in match fees did not constitute a total decrease in their earnings.

The National T20 Cup starts on March 14 with 39 games over three cities: Faisalabad, Lahore and Multan. The final will take place in Faisalabad on March 27. Several leading Pakistani international cricketers will not be able to play where the national page is back to New Zealand in five T20i’s and three ODDs.
