PDMA is reading plans for emergency

Quetta:

In the midst of increased flood threats during the ongoing monsoon, Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Balochistan has launched a provincial contingency plan to protect life and property from potential floods and rain -related disasters.

In a speech with the app, PDMA secretary director Jahanzaib Khan confirmed that the government had activated district disaster management authorities, empowered local administrations and stored vital -reliable supplies to respond quickly across vulnerable regions.

Khan emphasized that the Balochistani government was fully obliged to ensure rapid and effective emergency response across all vulnerable districts. PDMA and the irrigation department have taken proactive measures to protect channels and prevent flooding in the region, he said.

“In light of the recent heavy rain and changing weather patterns, PDMA has activated emergency team teams, led by Deputy Commissioners (DCs), with the participation of key line departments,” he said.

Khan said these teams were tasked with conducting rescue and rehabilitation efforts during floods or other emergencies. He insured the immediate release of the disaster control agents and promised the implementation of PDMA-owned heavy machinery to the districts as needed.

“DCS, which also leads the District District Management Authorities (DDMAs), the authority will take advantage of the funds in emergency during a crisis,” he said. He confirmed that DCS had been authorized to hire private machines for rescue operations, while PDMA’s own equipment will also be sent.

Khan emphasized that the Balochistan government had approved a contingency plan on June 12, reflecting its proactive attitude to disaster preparedness. “Relevant departments, including district administration, police and others have been asked to remain on high alarm.

PDMA has advised the DDMs to coordinate closely with these agencies to ensure the availability of emergency personnel, warehouse and important supplies in vulnerable places. To strengthen the emergency preparedness, PDMA has stored relief articles for over 300 families in each district.

“These items include tents, blankets, groceries, fuel and machines,” he said, adding that the food supply would be delivered on emergencies where needed. “The government will provide all necessary resources to ensure effective disaster action.”

He emphasized the need to ensure the protection of human life and properties while maintaining the effectiveness of the departments and agencies under accidents. He said that PDMA -officials’ leave had been canceled and that all staff were at a great deal to respond to emergencies.
