- Peacemaker Season 2 section 3 introduces a group called Sons of Liberty to DCU
- The paramilitary organization may hold the key to the show’s great new fan of fanta
- Fans have long suspected something is wrong on Earth-2, alias the parallel world Chris Smith continues to visit
Peacemaker Fans are convinced that its latest episode is falling the biggest tip, but that there is some truth to a bigger new theory of DC Universe (DCU) TV Show’s second season.
Full spoilers immediately follow for Peacemaker Season 2 section 3. Turn back now if you haven’t seen it yet.
This season’s third chapter, entitled ‘Another Rick Up My Sleeve’, sees the named anti-hero, real name Chris Smith, actively exploring the parallel world-blackdet Earth-2 of the show’s role and crew-he first discovered in Peacemaker Season 2’s premiere.
On the surface there is plenty to suffer from the alternative universe he twice describes as being the “best dimension ever”. His father and brother not only live in this reality, but also part of a famous superhero group (along with this world’s peace champion) called Top Trio. A more emotionally accessible version of Emilia Harcourt is also found in this dimension. Oh, and the peace champion who was part of this universe of you, before DCU’s Smith accidentally killed Ham-Owner an incredibly cool, the weapon to-wheel called the peace cycle.
Ever since Smith stumbled over this parallel dimension in season 2 section 1, however, fans have had their suspicion that something is not quite right with the seemingly idyllic earth-2. And thanks to the introduction of a group known as Sons of Liberty in Section 3, many are more convinced than ever that their wild fan theory of Earth-2 will be proven correctly.
So what is their hypothesis? This earth-2 is a stand-in for Earth-X. In DC comics, Earth-X is a parallel soil that existed before 1985/86 ‘crisis on Infinite Earths’ cartoon series, essentially restarting the DC cartoon, where Nazi Germany won 2nd World War.
There is evidence that the EARTH-2 is also DCU’s reimagining of Earth-X-the primary proof is that everyone that exists in this parallel dimension is white. Don’t believe me? Go back and see ‘Another Rick up the sleeve’ and see if you can see any character – head, background or otherwise – which are black, Asian or member of another ethnic minority race.
I am also not the only one who has noticed the absence of people with ethnically different backgrounds. Just look at threads that have sprung up on DC Cinematic and Dculeak’s Reddit pages, as well as on Resetera, which are full of fans who say just as much.
“Okay, but what has this to do with Sons of Liberty?” I hear you ask.
For the uninitiated: In DC comics, the Liberty sons are an ultra-nationalist paramilitary organization that encourages hatred and intolerance. In the terms of the layman are the fascists who use violence.
Originally in ‘Another Rick up my sleeve’, it seems that Sons of Liberty has been adapted as authentic as possible to Peacemaker Season 2. Unfortunately for them, DCU’s Smith kills them all, dampens explosive and claps up the face of the overall audience.
However, the EARTH-2 fan theory tilts the manuscript on Sons of Liberty are the evil guys. If Earth-2 is The DCU Chapter One TV series’ takes on Earth-X that would place them as altruistic freedom fighters who are fighting for a better and more diverse world. I can already see the look of DCU Smith’s face if (and potentially when) he teaches EARTH-2 is home to a predominantly white supremacist human race house that his father had similar views in DCU before his death, so this would not sit well with the blacksmith we know-at a time in HBO Max show’s second season.
As with any fan theory, it is possible that many of us beam the wrong tree. But with DCU-CO chief James Gunn, who suggests that there are plenty of surprises to come in season 2, especially its last three episodes, I would not be shocked if it is revealed that Earth-2 is Earth-X in total except name.
But what do you think? Does this theory have any weight? Or is it a mistake to throw us off the scent in front of a completely different reveal? Tell me that in the comments.
