Penn Badgley is getting candid about how his wife’s miscarriages affected their marriage.
In a recent chat on Fully booked podcast, to promote his new book, Crushmorerevealed the 39-year-old actor that his wife, Domino Kirke’s, two consecutive miscarriages almost broke up their marriage.
“That kind of loss is really common, and we should — I don’t know if that’s what we need to talk about alone. We need to at least start talking about it more.
“And of course, just to be clear, I’m talking about abortions,” he explained.
Penn added: “They happen all the time and they can be really, really painful. Well, I would say they’re universally painful. Maybe not everyone is allowed to feel that way.”
In his book, Penn spoke of a “terrible memory” of that painful period.
“This was our second loss together. A time when it didn’t feel like the cycle would break. My wife and I approached separation as many do after such losses,” he wrote via People.
“Mostly because we felt so isolated in a culture that doesn’t talk much about these things or know how to support those going through it. Seeing our quiet baby in the black and white sono image thrown out is a terrible memory I can’t shake every time we go for a sonogram now.”
