The government announced a price increase for high -speed diesel (HSD) with up to RS7 per year. Liter, with effect from February 1st (today).
The price of gasoline is also raised by RS1 per day. Liter, with the changes in the first two weeks of February 2025.
High -speed diesel, widely used in agriculture and transport sectors, will see a price increase from RS 260.95 to RS 267.95 per year. Liter, reflecting an increase of RS7.
This hike is expected to have an inflationed impact on the masses, especially due to higher transport prices. Petrol, primarily used in motorcycles and cars and serves as an alternative to CNG – especially in the Punjab Province – is raised from RS256.13 to RS 257.13 per year. Liter, which detects an RS1 increase.
The increase in gasoline prices follows the trend of increased fuel costs, as consumers in Punjab have turned to imported LNG at CNG stations due to the ongoing ban on using original gas that has been in place for several years due to the country’s gas shortage.
In a statement, the Ministry of Finance said that Oil & Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) had reviewed and adjusted consumer prices for oil products considering the recent fluctuations in the international oil market.
It also said that the prices of these products had been determined in the first two weeks of the current month.
At present, the government charges a higher rate on oil tax (PL) of RS 60 per year. Liters each on gasoline and diesel in an attempt to collect more income from oil consumers.
OGREA has announced revised LPG prices for February 2025, reflecting an increase in both producer and consumer prices for LPG.
According to the latest review, the LPG producer price is set to RS212,672.54 per year. Ton or RS2,509.54 per 11.8 kg of cylinder, which marks an increase of RS3,688.11 per day. Ton and RS43.52 per Cylinder compared to January 2025.
Similarly, the LPG consumer price has been revised to RS253,972.54 per year. Ton or RS2,996.88 per 11.8 kg of cylinder, reflecting the same increase of RS3,688.11 per day. Ton and RS43.52 per Cylinder from the previous month.
OGRA said the LPG producer award is associated with Saudi Aramco-CP and the US Dollar currency course. Compared to the previous month, Saudi Aramco-CP has increased by 1.6%.
The average exchange rate for the dollar has risen slightly by 0.19%, resulting in rising in LPG consumer price with RS43.52/11.8 kg cylinder (1.47%). The increase per Kg in LPG -consumer price is RS3.68
