PESHAWAR: Peshawar High Court (PHC) Tuesday, the National Assembly’s speeches and Senate’s chairman blocked the president of opposition leaders in their respective houses following the denotification of Pakistan Tehreek-E-Insaf’s (PTI) Omar Ayub and Shibli far from the top parliamentary positions.
When he heard a petition against the Election Commission in Pakistan’s (ECP) decision to denote Ayub and Faraz, PHC’s two-member bench, consisting of Justice Arshad Ali and Justice Khurshid Iqbal, also banned the election body from taking further steps towards the opposition party politicians.
The court postponed the hearing until August 15.
The development comes after the ECP, last week, de-notified nine PTI legislators, including Ayub and Faraz, in their beliefs in the case of May 9.
The list included Ayub (MNA from NA-18 Haripur), Rai Hassan Nawaz (MNA from NA-143 Sahiwal-III), Zartaj Yellow (MNA from NA-185 dg Khan-II), Rai Haider Ali (MNA from Na-96 Faisalabad-II), and SaHibzada Hamid Raza (MAA from NA-1444444444) from NA-404444) from NA-444444) from NA-44444) from NA-44444) from NA-1444) Parliament’s lower house.
Punjab assembly members Muhammad Ansar Iqbal (MPA from PP-73 Sargodha-III) Junaid Afzal (MPA from PP-98 Faisalabad-L), and Rai Muhammad Murtaza Iqbal (MPa from the PP-203 Sahiwal-Vi) were also de-notified.
The legislators were disqualified in accordance with Article 63 (2). 1 (h) in the Constitution (a person must be disqualified from being selected [if] … He has been convinced of any offense involving moral turpitude sentenced to a period of at least two years).
The ECP’s decision followed the 10-year judgment awarded to the PTI leaders by a Faisalabad Special Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC).
In his verdict, the special ATC sentenced 108 individuals of the total 185 accused, who also includes Sunni Intehad Council (SIC) Chief Hamid Raza, who has been handed over 10 years in prison.
In a speech with the media today, PTI chairman’s barist Gohar Ali Khan said PHC had banned ECP from about disqualification issues and also excluded the appointment of opposition leaders in both parliamentary houses.
“We are being discriminated against [….] And is being treated unfairly, ”Goohar said, complaining about the previous ruling party’s ongoing legal evil.
“The [election] The Commission did not listen to us, did not send a message and [our members] was disqualified overnight, ”the PTI chairman said, adding that the solution to political problems lies in the negotiations.
“We tried hard to make the dialogue successful [but our] Dealers were not even able to meet the PTI founder, “he noted.
