An emotional speech from a grief father led life -golf star Phil Mickelson to call the justice system.
Mickelson saw the testimony of Stephen Federico at a sub -committee meeting in the house Monday in Charlotte, North Carolina, after stabbing of Irynas Zarutska on the city’s light railway less than two months ago.
Federico’s daughter, Logan, a 22-year-old hopeful teacher from Waxhaw, North Carolina, visited friends at the University of South Carolina when “Career Cracker” Alexander Dickey allegedly broke into a cypress street home on May 3 and shot and killed her.

Dickey had been arrested 39 times on 25 crimes. Federico shared his grief and explained why he continues to push for change in the justice system.
Mickelson was clearly moved and repositioned Federico’s remarks to X with his own message.
“The judge (s) who lets this person go must be held responsible and in prison,” Mickelson wrote.

Federico’s testimony was raw and emotional.
“Think of your child coming home from a night with their friends, lying asleep, feeling someone coming into their room and waking them up. Pull them out of bed, naked, forcing their knees with her hands over her head and praying for her life,” he said, fought back tears.
“She was 5-Foot-3, she weighed 115 pounds. Bang! Dead. Gone. Why? Because Alexander Devante Dickey, arrested 39 cursed times, 25 crimes, were on the street … You will be sick and tired of my face and my voice until this is resolved. I will fight until my last breath for my daughter. Stop protecting the people.
Federico later appeared on Pakinomist’ “The Ingraham Angle”, explaining his mission further.

“I fight for Logan. I have to be Logan’s voice because no one else will be. I don’t have anyone fighting for her righteousness. Someone has to fight for the innocent people left here. We have to make some drastic changes to our system. People like Alexander Dickey shouldn’t be on the streets – people know,” he said.
Lexington County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that Dickey’s criminal record spans eight agencies. He was booked 11 times between 2013 and 2025, against several burglaries and Larceny. A first-time burglary in South Carolina’s burglary has a minimum 15-year prison sentence and up to life in prison.
Federico said the system gave Dickey more rights than his daughter has ever had.
“They were more interested in making sure he was not put in prison than to worry about whether he would hurt anyone or not,” he said. “His crimes escalated every time he made a new one. He was finally trained for the jackpot and executed our daughter. We are still trying to hear from our South Carolina lawyer to see if he will get the death penalty or not. Of course, it controls all the boxes it does.

“But they are more concerned about keeping criminals out of prisons and institutions than they should try to rehabilitate them. You can’t rehabilitate some of these guys, it’s just impossible.”
