Phil Mickelson is known for his incredible short game and precision around the green, but the six-time big champion shot from the rough with a recording of Scottie Scheffler and was burned for it.
In mid -March, after Joaquin Niemann won his second life Golf Tournament of the Year to that point, Mickelson went to social media to praise Niemann while taking a tomb in Scheffler.
“Top 5 (Player in the World)? Try No. 1,” Posted Mickelson.

Scheffler was at that time and is currently # 1 golfer in the world, but it didn’t stop Mickelson.
The 54-year-old doubled his hot take and said Scheffler, despite coming out of one of the most dominant seasons in PGA Tour History, would not win in the 2025 before the Ryder Cup at the end of September.
Scheffler had not won a tournament yet this season when he recovered from a freak hand injury, but the 28-year-old was nuclear at the CJ CUP Bryon Nelson Tournament. Scheffler won the tournament and ended 31 under par and built due to Tours 72-hole scoring record.

Scheffler won the tournament with eight strokes, and Mickelson, with a push from the former Masters -Master Trevor Immelman online, had to own his roof.
“So I could have been out of one,” Mickelson posted with a few crying laughter.
“Congratulations to Scottie with a fantastic performance.”

The almost record-breaking victory was the 14th career due to Tour victory in Scheffler’s career. While he had not yet won this year, Scheffler went into the tournament last weekend in Texas with five top 10 finishes, including a fourth place in Masters.
Scheffler’s first tournament win in the 2025 season comes with the PGA championship just around the corner as the tournament begins at Quail Hollow Golf & Country Club on May 15.
Mickelson is also ready to attend the PGA Championship, a tournament he has won twice in his career (2005, 2021).
