- Philips promises that the new i9000 is its ‘most intelligent razor’ yet
- Claims that it can lift and cut hair -0.08 mm below the skin’s surface
- Also offers real -time adjustment and printed lighting
If you have speculated what is next for Premium Electric Shaves, Philips has a response to you: Philips Norelco Shaver I9000 Prestige Ultra, the brand’s most intelligent and powerful yet. It is based on design and ergonomics that impressed us on previous models – this is the brand behind some of the best beard trimmers and electric razors on the market – as well as introducing a number of innovative new features.
I got a chance to check it out at a preview event and I was fascinated. (Unfortunately, I was also shaved, so even though I got a chance to see it in action, you will have to wait for my upcoming review for my official verdict.) Here are three reasons why Philips Norelco i9000 stands out from the crowd …
1. It may shave under the skin
The most significant change between I9000 and previous razors is that Philips promises a root level shaving with the new model. Using what Philips has called ‘Triple Action Lift & Cut Technology’, it lifts hair directly from the root, cuts up to -0.08 mm under Skin surface to the cleanest, smoothest shaving of your life. It sounds painful, but I saw it in action and can confirm that there were only hair that was shaved, no one ended up taking off their top skin layers.
With only a small stubb on my face, it took easy to take care of more short, fine hair with ease. I look forward to putting this to the test when it is a little more grown out and see if it can solve for the traction feeling that some other shaving can afford when they get their bearings around longer, more grown hair.
2. Real time ai shaving feedback
Like the previous model (which impressed us as we tested it for our Philips Shaver S9000 review), there are five modes: sensitive, foam, intense, regular and custom. New with I9000 is Senseiq Pro – an upgraded version of the technology used in previous models using AI to customize the shaving experience in real time that provides feedback and aims to deliver a better shaving experience.
It is combined with a new 360-degree ‘Precision Flexing System’ designed to offer 20 percent more precision in use thanks to three flexible heads that hide 72 blades and can perform 165,000 cutting actions in one minute.
I had to try Philips Norelco i9000 on hair growing in different directions and of different lengths on boards that Philips had created. There was no tug even when the surface was not smooth. I9000’s flexible heads definitely allow it to navigate any area skin a little lighter, and the blades work fast enough to let you move the razor as you see fit.
3. Disco -Lighting and a light color screen
You check and monitor all this via a new color screen on the front. I could look at the preview event that it is significantly brighter than the one found on previous models. This screen will also greet you with a good morning or good evening, depending on when selecting the razor from the rack (and like most other devices, the i9000 also works with a connected app for Android or iOS).
Even cooler, however, is a ring of LEDs under three floating shaving heads that glow green or red depending on how hard you press the razor.
The LEDs become neat and bright, so they are easy to look in the mirror or in your peripheral vision, and they really adjust to the fly based on how much pressure I apply. It is a really useful guiding tool and even if you are not interested in connecting the Companion app, it can give this feedback right on the razor.
The general core here is that more intelligent features plus lots of power help Philips Norelco i9000 deliver the shaving you need in any environment at all times. The extra tech flair thrown in is nice and the use of AI for real-time personalization has already proven to be successful in previous generations.
I just boxed Philips Norelco i9000 Prestige Ultra and am excited to fully set it through its pace over the next few weeks. It is now with a starting price of $ 329.99, depending on the exact model – from this release I see i9000 prestige Ultra for $ 329.99 on Amazon with a charging stand, a carrying bag and an extra attachment. However, it will be as expensive as $ 499.99, and in the UK it starts at £ 599.99. However, we are waiting for Philips to confirm the pricing of Australia.
