An air hostess from Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has been arrested to smuggle cell phones inland. Customs authorities at Lahore Airport claimed to have found the phones in her possession after she arrived with a plane from Abu Dhabi.
According to Customs Sources, the air hostess allegedly wore dozens of expensive cell phones on aircraft PK 264. The phones were found when her luggage was checked upon arrival at Lahore Airport.
The customs authorities reported that the mobile phones were seized and a disciplinary study against the air hostess has begun. The authorities continue to investigate the case to determine the extent of the smuggling operation.
Two days earlier, Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has fired two crew members after a survey confirmed their involvement in mobile phone theft.
Pia employees identified as Mohammed Mumtaz and Asifa Naaz were terminated from the employment after the investigation found them guilty of smuggling mobile phones, Pia spokesman said in a statement.
