Pia, FWBL, HBFC near privatization

Islamabad:

Parliamentary Secretary for Privatization Aasia Ishaque Siddiqui on Friday announced the National Assembly that Pakistan International Airlines (PIA), First Women Bank Limited (FWBL) and House Building Finance Corporation (HBFC) have entered the last stages of the privatization process.

In response to questions during the question, she said that the process for before bids for Pia has been completed, where the government was preparing to proceed to the bid phase in the middle of or late November 2025, subject to procedural approvals.

With regard to the first Women Bank Limited, the secretary said that bids had already been received and that the approval of the reference price was considered. “We are ready to open bids on Monday, October 13, and according to Allah’s will, the Sales Purchase Agreement (SPA) for First Women Bank will be completed on October 17,” she said.

She also said that an UAE-based international holding company is ready to acquire First Women Bank.

The secretary added that bids for HBFC would be received on October 24 with bids opening bids scheduled for October 27. “We expect to end the sales purchase agreement for HBFC shortly thereafter,” she said.
