Earlier in September, Pia secured a formal approval from the UK Department of Transport to serve as a third -country operator and resumed flights after five years of suspension. The approval allows PIA to operate direct aircraft for both passengers and loads.

Pia’s CEO, Air Vice Marshal Muhammad Amir Hayat, praised the Pia team and recognized the team’s resilience by conducting several international audits for 5 years. He also expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Deputy Prime Minister, Ministry of Defense and Civil Aviation Authority for their cooperation to secure the approval.
“This milestone is the result of sustained efforts and teamwork, and it positions Pia again to directly connect Pakistan with Britain,” said Amir Hayat.
The continuation of national aviation flights to the UK marks a significant development in strengthening trade conditions through cargo operations and potentially restoring passenger confidence to the service.
