A man who fell 21 meters from the stands of PNC Park in Pittsburgh for the warning track on Wednesday night was in critical condition, officials said.

The incident took place at the bottom of the seventh round in the right field about what is known as Clemente Wall, in honor of Roberto Clemente. The man seemed to cheer pirates star Andrew McCutchen’s two-run double as he turned over the railing and down to the ground. He was lying on his back when medical staff rushed over to take care of him.

“Tonight, during the seventh round of the game at PNC Park, an adult man fell from the real field bleachers on the game field,” Pirates said in a statement.

“Pittsburgh EMS as well as Pirates and Cubs training teams and other PNC Park staff responded and responded immediately and managed care. He was transported to Allegheny General Hospital. There is no further information available at this time.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with him and his family.”

Pittsburgh Public Safety later issued a statement about X.

“The Pittsburgh Police VCU detectives investigate after a man fell ~ 20 meters from the bleaching machines in PNC Park on the game box under the @pirates game,” officials said.

“Pittsburgh Ems Field Medics treated him on stage until he could be transported to the hospital in critical condition.”

Pirates Manager Derek Shelton and Chicago Cubs Manager Craig Counsell were among those who warned the judge of the situation under the play.

“Although it is 350 meters away, or whatever it is, I mean how it went down and then laid moving, while the play is going on, I mean Craig saw what I saw it. We both came out there,” Shelton said. “I think the judges saw it because of the way it kicked. It’s extremely unfortunate. It’s an understatement.”

Cubs players were among those who took a knee when they saw the man being placed on a back plate and on the medical cart.

“I didn’t see anything happen, but I saw (Counsell’s) face when he got out on the field and I could tell it was a very scary moment,” Cubs Star Dansby said Swanson. “All we could do was just asking for a good, strong recovery for him and his family. I’ve never been part of anything like it before, and I hope I’m never part of something similar again.

“It is a humble reminder of the gratitude that we all need to play this game. People obviously come out to support us and they are a big reason why we are able to do what we do. It’s obviously hard. At some point like that, you (fans) will know that you love them.”

McCutchen offered a prayer on X.

“Had really what happened tonight,” he wrote. “Can’t help think about the guy his family and friends. I pray tonight for him. Let’s think of his dear and hug our families a little tighter tonight. I hope he pulls through. May God bless you all. Good night.”
