- Pixel 10 Pro Fold is again the tip of being IP68 -rated
- It would be the first foldable to reach the standard
- PIXEL 10 -Tils are revealed on August 20
We count patiently down the days until the Big Google Pixel 10 exhibition window on August 20, and prior to the launch event, there is a rumor that the Pixel 10 Pro fold will be the first foldable to be launched with an IP68 rating for dust and water protection.
This comes from Winfuture, in an article where most of the handset technical details are presented, and it is the IP68 classification that really stands out. No one else folding on the market can match it, not even the IP48 classified Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7.
An IP68 phone is completely protected from dust coming in and is also waterproof: the exact definition depends on the phone and manufacturer, but being able to survive for 30 minutes in water at a depth of 1.5 meters (almost five meters) is typical.
Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold offers IPX8 protection, as foldable as Motorola Razr 50 Ultra: This means a high level of waterproofing, but no warranty that stains dust and dirt does not find its way into the house.
A repetitive rumor
Look at
Of course, a foldable phone with a flexible screen and a hinge gives some very specific challenges when it comes to keeping dust and water out, and it will be pretty bang if Google has managed to get the Pixel 10 Pro fold up to the required standard.
Given that we heard the same rumor from separate sources in June and in July, it looks more and more likely that Google has actually brought that bang – and it will be one of the most important sales points in the handset, on top of the other other upgrades we are being treated with.
Another interesting treat from this report is that the warehouse is upgraded from UFS 3.1 to UFS 4.0. It does not make a huge difference, but it will mean a speed increase and should make the collapsing phone feel snapping in general.
Of course, we will cover the launch of the Pixel 10 Pro Fold and the other handsets in the LIVE series on August 20, and we expect Google to give a live stream of some description so you will be able to look together wherever you are in the world.
