- Qualified Android users in the US can now access one of Pixel 10’s best AI features
- Google Photos app on Android has been updated to include voice and text input image editing
- You can now edit images by asking for specific changes with natural language, which effectively adds an assistant photo editor to your device
Android users can now edit images in Google photos with their voice or with text input, one of the best new AI features in Google Pixel 10 -smartphone.
The feature that was launched earlier this year exclusively on Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro and Pixel 10 Pro Fold is an incredibly impressive use of AI that allows users to completely change the way their photos look by talking to their device.
Google says “qualified” Android users now have an opportunity to “help me edit” inside the Google Photos app. Information about who is justified is button, but currently this new feature is only available to Android users in the United States.
According to Google’s press release announcing the update, users just “tap ‘help me to edit’ in the editor, describe what you want to change, and voila, photos take care of you – with a little help from advanced Gemini capacities.”
Given that this AI editing feature was one of the most important sales points in the new Google Pixel lineup of smartphones, it is very exciting to see the tool rolling for multiple Android devices.
If previous features are something to pass by, iOS users can soon use this editing feature in the Google Photos app, as was the case with Google’s Magic Eraser.
The magic at AI
Being able to edit photos using just your voice or by entering natural language text may be the future of image editing. In fact, I am such a fan of this functionality that I was seriously tempted to switch from my iPhone to a Pixel 10 when Google initially revealed the new smartphone.
In the end, I decided to stick to my iPhone, but now that Android users are starting to access this excellent gemini-driven feature, I cross my fingers that iPhone users are next to experiencing it.
While iPhone users do not have access to this new feature on Google photos yet, Google’s impressive Nano Banana AI image generator is excellent for photo editing and available in the Gemini app.
With Apple’s photo playground expected to get third-party photo generator support in the future, who knows what is coming first: Nano Banana or this neat voice maturation of the Google Photos feature?
