Sony has given an update on X/Twitter – but not a particularly helpful update.
The most important PlayStation account and the North American support account both published the same message in which it stated that “some users may currently experience problems with PSN,” but no further details were given beyond a link to PSN -Service Status page, and There have been no messages since.

Open up to any of these sections and you will see that the last update was submitted at midnight today – which I assume is midnight one, so almost 12 hours ago.
The fact that there has been no change in the page since then suggests that this is a major problem – and one that may not have been determined for some time.
So what does Sony say about it all? Unfortunately not much.
As you can see above, the official PSN Network Service status -page is a sea of red, with the rather underrated message “Some services experience problems” written over them.
The British version of DownDetector tells a similar story – and it actually seems to be a worldwide problem.
We first realized that there were problems with PSN when DownDetector -Stream Deplacement Reports were connected at around 2 p.m. 18 ET / KL. 23 GMT yesterday.
