Multibus Season 2 is officially on, Carol. The popular sci-fi mystery drama received a two-season order in September 2022, and work has been underway on the next entry for — at the time of publication — a little over a month, with the writers’ room reconvening in November 2025.
Pluribus season 2 release date: what we know so far
Multibus Season 2’s release date has yet to be revealed. But as I mentioned above, Apple gave the show a two-season order when it won the rights to Vince Gilligan’s latest TV creation in September 2022. We’ve known for over three years now that another chapter would be made.
It doesn’t sound like we’ll be seeing that for a long time, though. Speaking to RadioTimes.com in November 2025, Gilligan said the writing team would gather later that month to begin work on their scripts.
Until these are written and signed, filming cannot begin. The best scenario in my eyes? For a production of this size, if the scripts are finished early next year, principal photography could begin sometime in mid-to-late 2026. So at the earliest, Season 2 will launch between late 2027 and early 2028.
Pluribus season 2 trailer: is there one?
No. Considering the cameras haven’t even started rolling on Season 2 yet, there won’t be one for a long time either.
When a trailer is eventually released I’ll update this section, but don’t expect that to happen until sometime in 2027.
Pluribus season 2 likely cast
Spoilers follow Multibus season 1.
Here’s who I expect to see again Multibus season 2:
- Rhea Seehorn as Carol Sturka
- Karolina Wydra as Zosia
- Carlos Manuel Vesga as Manousos Oviedo
- Samba Schutte as Koumba Diabaté
- Menik Gooneratne as Laxmi
- Darinka Arones as Kusimayu
The first three people are key players in Multibus. Meanwhile, the latter trio appeared sporadically throughout its first season, and I expect them to do so again next time.
New additions could be added to the cast of one of the best Apple TV shows for Season 2, but a lot depends on the story that Gilligan and company want to tell. Until firm details are revealed on this front, we can’t say whether its ensemble will grow in its next installment.
For what it’s worth, Seehorn told Variety that there are two actors she’d like to see in Multibus: Olivia Colman and Jessie Buckley. Seehorn’s tongue-in-cheek reason? So she can “force them to be friends with me”. Make it happen, Gilligan.
Pluribus season 2 story speculation
Full spoilers follow Multibus‘ debut season.
Not surprisingly, Multibus Season 2’s plot brief has not been released yet. If you want to know more about the story threads, however, it will have to deal with my spoiler-filled Multibus season 1 finale explained piece is a good place to start.
Gilligan and company are sure to have more to say about Season 1 Episode 9, as well as the direction of travel for next season’s story. But since I am writing this guide in mid-December – and therefore before Multibus‘ season 1 finale and the 2025 party—I can’t include any quotes from the cast and crew about what might be in store for Carol, Zosia, and Manousos.
When I’m back in 2026, I’ll update this section with anything interesting I can find.
Will there be a third season of Pluribus?
The short answer is: we don’t know. Nevertheless, Gilligan has expressed a desire for more installments if Multibus continues to be one of Apple’s most watched TV Originals.
Speaking to Variety, Gilligan admitted that he could see it running for four seasons. But referring to one of his other critically acclaimed series, Breaking Bad – which was originally supposed to end after three but ran for six – as an example of how such plans can change, he said Multibus can continue longer.
Ultimately, Gilligan added, it would depend on lead star Rhea Seehorn’s desire to continue telling Carol’s story. In her own chat with Variety, Seehorn admitted that she would love for the show to run for 10 seasons before jokingly adding “or whatever I can force Vince to do.”
Of course, based on the show’s popularity and/or production costs, Apple will also be a determining factor in whether more seasons are necessary. Because now we know Multibus season 2 is being made, but it’s anyone’s guess whether a third and fourth will follow suit.
