Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced on Monday that the extent of digital wallets would be expanded across the country and integrate provincial systems into a coordinated national framework for digital payments.
When we spoke at a ceremony for people with excellent contribution to the success of the Prime Minister’s Ramazan Nutrition Package, the Prime Minister stated that modern payment methods had significantly improved the transparency and efficiency of fund transfers while maintaining the dignity of the recipients.
“Through digital wallets, 79% of the funds in the utility were transferred seamlessly and transparently,” said the prime minister, emphasizing that the previous system had significant shortcomings that have now been addressed with the new digital framework.
He outlined plans to ensure that all payments next year would be made digitally and obtain 100% utilization of funds through modern payment systems. He also noted that the initiative would continue to develop with provincial governments that were brought into the integrated digital payment system.
Secretary of the Benazir Income Support program, Amir Ahmed Ali, provided a detailed orientation of the Ramazan Nutheld Package and the use of digital wallets. PM also presented honorary screens to key officials from both public and private sectors who played key roles in the program’s implementation.
