Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has instructed relevant ministries to work with the private sector to reassess the efficiency and sought out of the consciousness campaign for the 20 billion rupier Ramadan -Nut aid package.
During a review of the package’s surveillance mechanism at the National Telecommunication Corporation in Islamabad, the Prime Minister emphasized that only approx. 20 percent of the funds have been withdrawn from digital wallets, attributing to this low uptake of a lack of attention.
He urged eligible persons to call 9999 to get the necessary information about the digital wallet system.
“This relief package is not an advantage, but a right to the deserved people,” the prime minister emphasized.
Shehbaz Sharif further explained that for the first time cash transfers of 5,000 rupees are made to deserving families in a transparent way, enabling them to buy items based on their own preferences and needs. He added that the initiative will benefit four million families.
The Prime Minister also requested input from relevant stakeholders within a week to investigate the possibility of expanding the scope of the relief package.
