Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Friday said the players of the national cricket team were heroes and the nation expected them to win the upcoming Champions Trophy.

He approached the initial ceremony for the advanced renovation of Gaddafi Stadium, he expressed his joy over the end of the stadium’s renewal within 117 days.

He appreciated Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) President and Interior Minister Syed Mohsin Naqvi to oversee the stadium’s construction. He congratulated all PCB members and instructed the chairman to reward all persons involved in this important performance.

The premiere noted that after “Shehbaz Speed” it was now time for “Mohsin Speed.” He also paid tribute to the Frontier Works Organization (FWO) for his role in the stadium’s upgrade.

Shehbaz Sharif praised the national cricket team for their recent performances and expressed hope that they would become masters for the upcoming Champions Trophy. He also expressed his confidence that Pakistan would defeat India in the tournament and win the hearts of 240 million Pakistanis.

He highlighted the importance of teamwork, not only in sports, but also in governance. He said that financial stability in the country was the result of his cabinet’s collective efforts. When he reflected over the past eight months, he compared the economic crisis with the rapid pace of Australian bowler Dennis Lille’s deliveries. However, he emphasized that his team of ministers remained steadfast and helped Pakistan get out of financial difficulties.

The prime minister congratulated the nation of hosting a major international sporting event in Pakistan after 29 years. He also thanked Punjab Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif for providing facilities for the construction team through the Punjab government.

The prime minister assured that the government would provide the top security schemes for the matches, which allowed cricket fans to enjoy world -class cricket.

He welcomed American Consul Kristin Hawkins at the ceremony and expressed optimism that the American cricket team would soon visit Pakistan for international matches.

Previously, the Prime Minister officially inaugurated the renovated stadium. PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi and the National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq also addressed the collection.

The event was attended by Punjab CM Maryam Nawaz Sharif, Federal Ministers Attaullah Tarar, Ahsan Iqbal, Azam Nazir Tarar, Rana Tanveer and Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, Punjab speaker Malik Muhammad Ahmad, Provincial Minister, Senior Journalists and Cruel from various fields.
