Islamabad:
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has offered “heartfelt tribute” to the overseas Pakistani, the transfers sent by who reflects a sustained bond with their homeland – a bond of trust, commitment and generation responsibility.
In a statement issued on the international day of family transfers, he said the government is continuing to work tirelessly to attract foreign direct investment and expand the export base to ensure long -term financial stability.
On this journey, he said, transfers have played a crucial role, which significantly strengthens our currency reserves. According to the Prime Minister, transfers from overseas Pakistanis have always been a cornerstone of our national economy.
“With over 9 million Pakistanis living abroad, mainly in Gulf, Europe, North America and elsewhere.
“Our diaspora remains deeply associated with their roots. Their financial contribution is not only an expression of love and responsibility towards their families, but also a strong pillar that supports Pakistan’s financial resilience,” he added.
He noted that in the current financial year, overseas landscapes surrendered a record $ 34.9 billion, marking an increase of 28.8% compared to the previous year. In May 2025 alone, the country received $ 3.7 billion in transfers, reflecting an increase of 13.7% in May the year before.
“These historical figures are a testimony not only to our Diaspora’s hard work and loyalty, but also for their growing confidence in the government’s economic policies.”
He said this confidence reinforces the government’s decision to double the efforts of resuscitation and growth of our economy. “Let’s renew our collective promise to work hand in hand with our diaspora, development partners and all stakeholders to overcome our financial challenges and initiate a new era with investment, prosperity and national progress,” he said.
