A photo circulating on social media claims that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at a recent summit. The post triggered outrage, with users calling it “betrayal” and asked Pakistan’s attitude towards Israel.
However, the claim is false. The photo actually shows Shehbaz Sharif shakes his hands with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan during Sharm el-Sheikh Peace Summit in Egypt with Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev.
Incorrect information was spread through an AI-generated image where the Armenian PM was replaced with Netanyahu.
Prime Minister Sharif visited Egypt to attend the summit and participated in the signing ceremony for a peace agreement aimed at ending the humanitarian crisis in Gaza. His participation in invitation from Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and US President Donald Trump reflected Pakistan’s historical support for Palestinian self-determination and regional stability.

The summit followed diplomatic endeavors initiated on the sidelines of the 80th General Assembly and tried to facilitate an Israeli withdrawal, protect Palestinian civilians, secure the release of prisoners, end shift and begin to rebuild Gaza, while laying the basis for a political process against an independent Palestinian state with al-QD’s all-sharing as capital.
Videos from the summit confirm that the meeting was purely diplomatic.
Shandana Gulzar Khan, who originally claimed that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met Netanyahu, later deleted his tweet.
I have deleted my tweet at Shehnaz Sharifs meeting with Netanyahu as the image is not 100% clear.
What is 200% clear and the proof is available with “concerned” people who were arranged a meeting between Shehbaz Sharif and Netanyahu

Journalist Alina Shigri quickly corrected the claim, tweeting, “It’s actually the Armenian Prime Minister, not Netanyahu!”
The confusion was further treated by Attaullah Tarar, who clarified that the image showed Shehbaz Sharif with the leaders of Armenia and Azerbaijan in Egypt, and condemned attempts to distort the video and spread fake tales.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif with President of Azerbaijan and Prime Minister of Armenia Day before yesterday in Egypt. Some local political elements are trying to distort the video of this meeting and give a completely false story.

The bottom line is that Shehbaz Sharif did not meet Netanyahu – the picture shows a meeting with Armenia’s leader.
