Islamabad:
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has put together a three-member survey committee to investigate the alleged irregularities in the lease of valuable Port Qasim Authority (PQA) country after explosive revelations by Senator Faisal Vawda that the land was rented at casting prices under the current government’s employment photo.
According to a review issued by the Prime Minister’s office, the land was awarded to a small and medium -sized industrial park. It added that the alleged financial irregularities in the leasing process will be examined by the panel.
The committee will be led by the President of the Prime Minister’s Inspection Commission appointed Convener, while intelligence agency (IB) Director Sirajuddin Amjad and Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Director Syed Shahid Hussain will act as members.
The committee has also been assigned a special task to investigate PQA’s legal strategy to seek cancellation of the lease, including efforts to overthrow the residence order issued against its revocation. It will investigate the factors considered by the PQA Board in its decision to reach a settlement outside the court with the applicant.
In addition, the study panel will review all legal statements that supported settlement outside the court.
Under the reference conditions (Thurs), the Committee will assess whether PQA reassessed the value of the country before continuing with the settlement and whether the current market prices were taken into account in the final decision.
The committee will also decide why the offer outside the court was not immediately withdrawn when the applicant refused to accept it. In addition, it will identify government issues that have contributed to delays in the process.
If necessary, the committee has been authorized to cooperate additional members to help with the investigation. The Ministry of Maritime Affairs will provide secretary support. The Investigation Committee is obliged to submit its report to the Prime Minister within two weeks.
Last week, the Senate Committee for Maritime President Senator Faisal Vawda postponed a RS60 billion corruption scandal and accused a federal minister of “criminal negligence”.
Vawda detailed country fraud and held the minister of maritime affairs Qaisar Sheikh responsible for the Authority. He claimed that the deal was scrapped within 72 hours. “I asked for one thing, but they ignored me and rushed to cancel the 72 -hour deal,” he said.
During this time, he added, an official denial was published in unclear newspapers. Soil worth millions per Acre was allegedly sold for as little as RS800,000 to RS1 million.
