Islamabad:
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has put together a three-member survey committee to investigate the alleged irregularities in the lease of valuable Port Qasim Authority (PQA) country after explosive revelations by Senator Faisal Vawda that the land was rented at casting prices under the current government’s employment photo.
According to a review issued by the Prime Minister’s office, the land was awarded to a
Small and medium -sized industrial park.
It added that the alleged financial irregularities in the leasing process will be examined by the panel.
The committee will be led by the President of the Prime Minister’s Inspection Commission, who has been appointed Collector, while IB Director Sirajuddin Amjad and FIA director Syed Shahid Hussain will act as members.
The committee has also been assigned a special task to investigate PQA’s legal strategy to seek cancellation of the lease, including efforts to overthrow the residence order issued against its revocation.
It will investigate the factors considered by the PQA Board in its decision to reach a settlement outside the court with the applicant.
In addition, the study panel will review all legal statements that supported settlement outside the court.
According to the Thurs, the Committee will assess whether PQA reassessed the value of the country before continuing with the settlement and whether the current market prices were taken into account in the final decision.
The committee will also decide why the offer outside the court was not immediately withdrawn when the applicant refused to accept it. In addition, it will identify government issues that have contributed to delays in the process.
