Islamabad:
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif intervened on Tuesday to change the budget proposal to increase the salary of the salary employee by 10% during a cabinet meeting, which he chaired the approval of the federal budget on Tuesday, sources say.
The cabinet held a detailed discussion about various budget proposals, including wages and pensions. During the meeting, Shehbaz rejected a proposed pay rise of 6% and instead insisted on a 10% increase. The cabinet later approved a 10% increase in wages and a 7% boost in pensions.
Previously, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), a key coalition partner, had required a significant increase in wages. However, Finance Minister Aurangzeb claimed that the government already expanded the maximum possible relief to the ordinary man through the budget.
Shehbaz said that all economic indicators were now stable and satisfactory because of the government’s efforts, the victims of the people and contributions from important stakeholders supporting the national economy because of the government
“The ordinary man and the grade have sacrificed,” said the prime minister, adding that the paid persons rightly asked: They contributed around the RS400 billion to the national tax in taxes – how much did they pay wealthy?
He noted that over the past five quarters, the county had been exposed to harsh conditions and more challenges, and emphasized that the control of the nation through them was no small achievement. “Pakistan has now reached the start as all key stability indicators are satisfactory,” he said.
