Islamabad:
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Monday expressed Pakistan’s strong desire to raise his “excellent political ties” with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to a “mutually advantageous financial partnership” according to an official statement from PM’s office.
The comments were made during a meeting with UAE -Vice Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The two leaders discussed regional developments and global issues of mutual interest.
During Sheikh Abdullah’s visit, Pakistan and UAE signed several Memoranda of Understanding (Mous), which aimed to strengthen the bond between the two nations and promote cooperation between their business society.
UAE and Pakistan enjoy long -term bilateral relations where millions of Pakistanis work in the Gulf State, which significantly contributes to the economies of both countries. In recent years, UAE has emerged as one of the most important nations that expanded financial support to Pakistan in times of financial difficulty.
The awards from the Prime Minister’s office stated that Shehbaz confirmed the deeply rooted fraternal bonds between Pakistan and UAE built on shared history, mutual respect and strong cultural and economic connections.
It said Prime Minister Shehbaz conveyed his warm greetings to Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the president of the UAE and the ruler of Abu Dhabi, and appreciated UA’s continued support to Pakistan in various sectors.
The Prime Minister expressed satisfaction with the positive course for bilateral cooperation and emphasized to increase cooperation in trade, investment, energy and people-to-people contacts.
In the apartment, Sheikh Abdullah Al Nahyan appreciated the contributions of the Pakistani community in the UAE and repeated his country’s decision to elaborate bilateral ties and explore new ways to cooperation, the award stated.
Meanwhile, he confirmed the UA’s obligation to strengthen relations with Pakistan in various sectors, including trade, investment and aviation, during his formal conversations with Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar.
Sheikh Abdullah expressed the satisfaction that the relationship between the two countries had grown. In particular, he mentioned that “things have moved faster” in the last year or so. He said that leaders and people in both countries wanted to further develop this relationship. “Pakistan is close to our hearts,” he noted.
In his remarks, Dar said both countries had ancient brotherly relations and that love and love existed between their people. He said, “We work together for the benefit and welfare of our two nations.”
Following the negotiations at the delegation level, the two foreign ministers Mous signed on cultural cooperation and the establishment of the mixed Conferular Affairs. They also witnessed the exchange of Mou about the creation of UAE-Pakistan Joint Business Council.
Rwandan FM
Pakistan and Rwanda agreed to elaborate on their cooperation in areas of trade, investment, defense, diplomacy and people to people exchanged during a meeting between Deputy Prime Minister Dar and visiting Rwandan Foreign Minister Olivier Jean Patrick Nduhungrehe.
The two sides held in -depth discussions covering the full range of bilateral relationships. Later addressing a common press stakeout, Dar said their conversations focused on strengthening existing ties and exploring new opportunities for collaboration.
Dar said the two sides have also signed a Mou in diplomatic training. He added that Pakistan has paid great attention to his connections with Rwanda. He said the Rwandan High Commission in Islamabad was also inaugurated during the visit by the Rwandan Foreign Minister.
Ishaq Dar said Pakistan offered a promising market for Rwandish products. He emphasized that Pakistan’s globally recognized exports such as drugs, textiles, surgical instruments, Agri-Tech and sporting products had a strong potential in Rwanda’s rapidly growing economy.
He mentioned that there was great potential for collaboration in information and communication technology. He said Pakistan was eager to collaborate in areas such as digital transformation, e-governance, fintech and innovation platforms for youth.
On the multilateral front, the Deputy Prime Minister said: “Our cooperation remains robust”. He mentioned that both countries regularly supported each other’s candidacy on the UN and other international forums.
The Rwandan Foreign Minister said Pakistan and Rwanda shared a commitment to world peace. He noted that both countries were among the top five troops that contributed nations to the UN peacekeeping missions. He added that they shared a common desire to work together in different sectors.
