PM orders probe after second attack on MNA Mubarak Zeb’s house

A rocket attack was carried out at the residence of a member of the National Assembly (MNA) and special assistant to Prime Minister, Mubarak Zeb Khan, in the Bajaur District late Friday night – the other such event for a month – prompting Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to order an immediate investigation and arrest of those who are responsible.

According to Express News, unknown attacks fired a rocket in MNA’s house around 10 p.m. 1, which exploded near the main gate. While no damage was reported, the explosion was partly damage to the entrance to the home.

District Police Officer (DPO) Bajaur, Waqas Rafiq, confirmed the incident and said a probe was launched. “The police team has initiated immediate investigations,” he added.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Khan said, “Once again, Miscreans launched a rocket attack on my house under the deck of darkness. Alhamdulillah, there was no loss of life.”

PM Shehbaz, in a statement on Saturday, condemned severely attacked and expressed relief that no life was lost, Radio Pakistan reported.

He instructed law enforcement authorities to investigate the incident without delay and ensure that they are brought to justice behind the attack.

Separately sent MNA a strong message and said that such “Feige actions” would not deter him from serving the population of the region.

Khan said the attack carried the hallmarks of the forbidden Tehrik-in-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), who had also assumed responsibility for a previous attack on his residence on May 14.

At that time, an improvised explosion device (IED) was planted at the main gate of the house, which was destroyed in the resulting explosion. Khan noted that threatening calls and messages had been received from international numbers in recent days.

“The involvement of a forbidden clothing near the Pak-Afghan border, potentially with the support of some local elements, cannot be excluded,” he said.

He highlighted possible motives behind the attacks and said he was obliged to use all available resources to lift Bajaur, and such actions were aimed at saboting the ongoing development efforts in the area. “They contacted us through international numbers and issued threats of stopping the development activities. But we are not afraid. The development of Bajaur does not stop.”

“We have confronted such elements in the past and will continue to do so. We will not return from our mission to serve the population of this region,” he added.
