Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday has taken steps in response to the flood -like situation in various low -lying residential areas of Islamabad, which followed the recent heavy rain.
In a statement from the Prime Minister’s office, Prime Minister Capital Development Authority (CDA) and District Administration instructed pressing pressing operations and ensuring the rapid drainage of rainwater from affected neighborhoods, especially near storm water drain.
When expressing concerns about the residents’ situation in flooding areas, the Prime Minister also instructed the authorities to implement precautionary measures to protect vulnerable communities near streams and nullahs.

He ordered the health department to remain in high aware of preventing the spread of waterborne diseases, which can often follow such a rainfall -induced flood.
To monitor and manage the situation, PM Shehbaz created a special committee to oversee rescue operations and ensure security and relief to affected citizens. He repeated the government’s obligation to protect life and property during natural disasters and emphasized the need for a quick and organized response from all affected agencies.
In a separate development, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif was chairman of a meeting on the construction of Jinnah Medical Complex (JMC), who instructed the relevant authorities to ensure that global standards for healthcare are fulfilled in its development.
“Jinnah Medical Complex will be a world-class hospital that provides treatment of patients from all four provinces, including Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltist,” the prime minister said. He emphasized the importance of transparency and profits in both the construction and the staff’s recruitment to the plant.
The Prime Minister also called for third -party validation of the quality of construction to ensure high standards. He directed the preparation of a plan to improve primary and secondary health systems in Islamabad to reduce the pressure on existing tertiary hospitals.
“Jinnah Medical Complex will be built with international standard facilities, and it will offer even better services compared to Pakistan Kidney and Liver Institute (PKLI),” he said, adding that all related services, including janitor, should be outsourced on profit.
During the meeting, officials informed the Prime Minister on progress in concept design, board formation, acquisition of land and plans for a proposed commercial center next to the hospital. It was reported that concept design, soil transfer and board agreements are approaching the completion and that geotechnical and social influence studies are underway.
Federal Ministers Ahsan Iqbal, Ahad Khan Cheema, Syed Mustafa Kamal and PM’s Health Coordinator Dr. Mukhtar Bharath was among those who attended the meeting.
