PM Shehbaz emphasizes peace, equality in dialogue with India

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Sunday confirmed Pakistan’s obligation to peace, stability and progress in the region. He said Islamabad was prepared to move beyond the recent hostilities with India, but insisted that any dialogue should be based on equality and justice.

When he spoke at a collection of overseas Pakistanis in London, the Prime Minister announced that a ceasefire had come into force after a four-day military conflict stating that Islamabad reciprocated with an appropriate response to India for its unfair aggression.

“We want peace, we want progress, we want prosperity, and we want the eradication of unemployment in Pakistan,” he mentioned specifically.

Prime Minister Shehbaz emphasized that Pakistan sought peace not only on the battlefield but also through investments and financial partnerships. “We made Pakistan a formidable military strength. Now is the time to build an equally strong economy,” he added.

Despite the tensions, the Prime Minister reiterated that Islamabad had consistently pursued dialogue with New Delhi on many years of disputes, including Kashmir, water division, trade and terrorism.

“I have made this offer many times and the world knows it,” he said. “We will sit down and talk to you to find a way forward and tackle the challenges that have plagued our relationship for decades.”

He warned that the relationship could not normalize without solving Kashmir -twist.

PM Shehbaz said, Pakistan and India are neighbors in the region, and good connections between the two nations depend on sorting the problems amicably and peacefully through dialogue, not through power.

The Prime Minister paid tribute to Pakistan’s victory 10 May as a historic milestone that delivered a ‘powerful message to the enemy’.

“From Karachi to Peshawar, the whole nation bowed gratitude to God,” he said, adding that the victory had improved respect for Pakistan’s green passport globally.

The premiere also condemned the ongoing violence in Gaza and repeated Pakistan’s unwavering support for the Palestinian case. He called on the international community to act to end the sufferings of the Palestinians and promised that Pakistan would remain a voice for justice on global forums.

He paid tribute to overseas Pakistanis as “ambassadors in Pakistan”, who not only contributes to the economy but also defends the country’s political narrative abroad.

When he highlighted their contribution, he revealed that overseas Pakistanis sent a record $ 38.5 billion in transfers last year, as he described as the backbone of the economy.

When he turned around domestic challenges, Prime Minister Shehbaz recognized the importance of foreign investment and financial support to stabilize the economy, but called on the nation to strive for self -sufficiency.

“We have to get rid of debt and stand on our own feet,” he said. “When we make Pakistan a great financial power, the world will listen to us.”

With more than 60 percent of the population consisting of youth, he called for skills development within it, artificial intelligence and vocational education.

Completed his address, the Prime Minister emphasized, “The Unit of Political and Military Management in the pursuit of a common vision of a great Pakistan and God willing, we will make it a reality.”
